The Importance of Self Love
When the expressions “loving yourself” or “self-love” are heard, there may be confusion
about what is meant. This is because when we hear the word “love”, we think in terms of
what we are familiar with, dependent love. If we try to love ourselves, we may take an
approach similar to that used in dependent love, using ourselves as the object of our love.
We may try to escape into ourselves, as we escaped into others. We may become selfabsorbed
and self-indulgent, putting our own needs first. The motive is still to escape. We
reject unhappiness and, in so doing, reject ourselves.

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS
For many people forgiveness is one of the hardest steps of all in our progress toward freedom of
spirit. Yet it is essential. For as long as we are unable to forgive, we keep ourselves chained to
the burdens of bitterness. We give them rent-free space in our minds, emotional shackles on our
hearts, and the right to torment us in the small hours of the night. When it is time to move on, but
still too hard, try some or all of these steps.

EMPOWERING WOMEN TOWARD EXCELLENCE
"What are the qualities of an empowered woman?" In my career, I have
spent time talking with a number of outstanding women to find the answer
to this powerful question. I have talked to artists, corporate executives,
lawyers, civic leaders, entrepreneurs, housewives, professors, athletic
directors, technology leaders, accountants, retailers, mothers, and other
wise women. In business, women are often pushed to follow the rules that
define a good businessMAN. It is good advice for men, but the shoe doesn't
always fit for women. The following facets of empowerment are the results
of my quest on what makes not just a good business woman, but what leads
to being an empowered woman—at home and at work.

be quick to respond, “Money!” But what does money actually do for you? Once the bills are
paid and you’ve purchased all the tangible trinkets money can buy, what do you do next? How

Maintaining Christian Values in the Workplace
There is no greater value, as a born again believer, than knowing what there is beyond the grave.
The Bible tells us that "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has
prepared for those who love him." (1 Corinthians 2:9). This tells me that no matter how
wonderful I picture eternity in heaven, it's even better. This gives me, as a Christian, a great
peace, knowing that the future is better than the present.
